This lesson is from our series “Guitar Chords”
In this lesson I will show you 3 ways to play a moveable Maj7 (Major 7) chord. I will show you the chord grips using a GMaj7 but this shape can be moved anywhere on the fretboard. Moving the shape on the fretboard changes the root name of the chord but it remains a Maj7 chord. Whatever note is on the 6th string under your first finger is the root note. So if you move this chord to the 7th fret it becomes an AMaj7 chord because the 6th string 7th fret is an A note.
Stay tuned for more lessons on how to play other voicing and inversions of moveable Major 7 chords.

Shoegaze and dreampop
you sound like toby from the office. great lesson though haha!
I often like to use the fourth string root major 7th chord where you the pinky on the D string as your root and just step ladder the next three fingers one string and one fret apart. It's a nice sound, especially if you are playing with a bass player.
is that standard tuning ?
because I hear an F# in the higher E string , even though there's no finger placed on that string
Excellent teaching! thanks
